A typical day in the life of the consecrated brothers and sisters
Prayer
In our Oases the rhythm of time is marked by liturgical prayer, praying together with the Divine Office and celebrating the Eucharistic. Prayer then overflows with continuous Eucharistic adoration throughout the day, with the daily recitation of the Holy Rosary, and meditation upon the Sacred Scriptures.
RL 18
We ask the Lord to achieve the state of continuous prayer, transforming our intercession into prayer of the heart, which unfolds in both personal and communitarian prayer.
Work
Work, whether manual, intellectual, pastoral or artistic, is collaboration with God, our Provident Father, and is a labour of peace in itself. The tasks entrusted to the brothers and sisters of the Oases are very diverse: day-to-day housekeeping, gardening, handicrafts, iconography, collaboration with parishes and dioceses to name a few. Much importance is given to hospitality, with the organisation of spiritual retreats and the accompaniment of individuals and groups. In Brazil and Cameroon, the brothers and sisters coordinate various projects for on-site assistance to the poor.
RL 34
Our economic resources are trust in God and full and continuous abandonment to Divine Providence, certain that if we live by faith and prayer, committed to the Gospel of Peace, working with our hands and putting our intellectual, artistic and pastoral skills to good use, the Lord will not only provide for our necessities, but will also allow us to share His gifts with the poor.
Fraternal life
The spirit of family and fraternity that distinguishes the Oases relies on the commitment of each individual member to build up communion in charity, overcoming one's selfishness, and in caring for others. To grow in this common commitment, the brothers and sisters gather weekly in encounters for revision, sharing, planning, or simply to live the joy of being together.
RL 46
The fraternal life in common of celibate brothers and sisters is a grace of vocation that is based on the plan that the Queen of Peace has for us, as individuals and as a community. Such a community life is safeguarded by fervour of faith and prayer, mortification (cf. Col 3:5-11), fraternal correction and intense communion, while keeping one's gaze upon and one's invocation's addressed to Mary Most Holy and to St. Joseph.
